A tribute to Gilbert and Jaime Hernandez is long overdue in this blog.(…) Take the best of late 70’s punk rock, Archie comics, Garcia Marquez Magic Realism, a dash of Fellini, Mexican soap operas, lucha libre, monster movies and even the widescreen vistas of, say, John Ford, put them in a blender and then use them to spin tales about girlfriends in Ventura, about childhood, about middle age, about decades-spanning sagas involving Latin American towns and its inhabitants emigrating to America, about dreams and superheroes… about… well, seemingly endless stories, really.
